In an increasingly fast-paced and disconnected world, José Antonio Leal invites us to pause and listen carefully. This expert in medicinal plants, originally from Venezuela and now living in Costa Rica, shares his valuable teachings on the art of communication, the importance of spirituality, and the healing power of nature. Prepare for an inspiring encounter that will transform your perspective on life.
Leal, who has been living in Costa Rica for several years, considers the country to be one of the most extraordinary. “It has two energies: the Pacific and the Atlantic, and that makes it one of the most emblematic countries on a spiritual level, since it does not contain the energy of the army,” he said.
He has a degree in Social Communication with a minor in Social Development and also studied Audiovisual Arts with a minor in Television at the Universidad Católica Cecilio Acosta. He specializes in analog and digital sound and, in photography, in still photo transitions.
José Antonio has been practicing herbal medicine, medicine through plants, for 14 years.
His extensive experience in healing with medicinal plants keeps him actively involved in Resonance and Alianza Soberana in Costa Rica.
Resonance is a movement made up of people who have experienced changes in consciousness and know that more peace, joy, and love await them in a better living environment. It is a shared and bold vision. A living community and a center of innovation. A sustainable ecosystem for living and working. A model for the new future. They see their environment not as a dream, but as an awakening, an idea, and an ideal.

And the Alianza Soberana Foundation is a prominent organization dedicated to preserving and revitalizing ancestral wisdom in Costa Rica. It focuses on six key areas of sovereignty: consciousness, land, water, energy, food, and data. It seeks to guide and unite people who share values and perceptions of life.

“After I arrived in Costa Rica, I called Daniel Yepez, co-founder of Resonance and Alianza Soberana. I have known him for many years. I told him I was in the country, and he invited me to Resonance. Later, he told me about Alianza Soberana,” Leal explained.
In his opinion, Resonance is one of the best structures created for welcoming guests who are going to have their first ayahuasca experience. “I have been to many places, many organizations, many centers over the years, and I consider Resonance to be one of the best structures for me, both physically and spiritually. I define it as a spiritual field, a place where spirits come to purify themselves, to heal, to understand, to reflect, to meditate, to breathe, to realize that we have lungs and that life is not only what we have been told.”
José Antonio’s role within these two incredible organizations is to serve as a medicine man and also to perform the temazcal ritual.

In his opinion, healing of the self is achieved through medicinal plants, meditation, yoga, nature, etc.
The spiritual world
In his opinion, the spiritual world leads us to creation, divinity, the source, “it gives us the opportunity to follow a true path with ourselves, the path of life, which leads us to fulfillment.”
We talked about living a full life today, “on our journey we encounter all the highs and lows, high, medium, and low vibrations, all life experiences in which we cry, laugh, and often feel pain. When we understand our own darkness and our own light, we can walk in the middle of the two.”
In this way, José Antonio referred to the fact that many people are afraid of their own darkness, and there are others who are too afraid of the light, “they don’t like too much light, why? Because then it doesn’t let you see reality as a whole. When we know darkness and light, we can walk the path of fulfillment. This is quite a broad topic,” he said.
Life purpose
For Leal, his life purpose is focused on integration and knowledge. “To integrate all those people and all those medicines at the right time and moment. We don’t just have one purpose in life, we have several. We have missions, we have understanding throughout as we walk in a clean way, a clear way, a transparent way, a way of going with the truth.”

Virtues and flaws that you notice in yourself? The virtues I can easily understand are many things that are generated on this planet, the human mind, the physical body, where thoughts are what really trap many human beings on this planet. I feel that this is a virtue I have, that I can realize where humans really fit in on this planet.
Between virtues and flaws
All human beings have virtues and flaws, but what are José Antonio’s? We asked ourselves this question at TCRN… He considers one of his flaws to be thinking that others don’t see things at the same speed as he does. “I feel that this is a flaw that I have to work on little by little, understanding that every human being has their own unique processor and should be respected.”
Among his virtues, he notes that he can easily understand many things that happen on this planet: the human mind, the physical body, “thoughts are what really trap many human beings on this planet.”
His roots, lessons learned, and outlook
In all our interviews, we ask each person about the lessons they remember from their parents and that they carry with them on their journey. José Leal emphasized an extraordinary education based on the rules of good speaking and good listening, which, in his opinion, have been lost today. “Many people have lost the habit of saying good morning or good afternoon, or even helping our neighbors.”
Good and not-so-good moments in life and how he has overcome them… On this subject, José said, “Life gives you the best moments, but when you feel truly suffocated or trapped, that is when it is strengthening you for a new path, for a new life in the future, so that when those supposedly difficult processes come in the future, you already have the fundamental basis to be able to face that new experience or, if you want to repeat it, you already have the wisdom to be able to lessen it, to be able to execute it in a calm and knowledgeable way.”
On the other hand, we asked him what he thinks he still needs to do or achieve… And his answer was that he feels very fulfilled, very complete. “Life gives you different stages, and the stage when you feel fulfilled and complete is where human beings truly begin to be able to plant, to see, to have the vision to organize and develop in a more conscious way. Consciousness is important in everything, and when you achieve it, that’s when you feel fulfilled and complete.”
Finally, the Venezuelan adopted by Costa Rica shared a message for all of you, our readers: “We all have the ability to achieve the things we want; we all have the will to express what we really need in times of pain and suffering. Pain and suffering are not bad; they are teachers that help us forge a lasting path of truth. Let us not forget that consciousness exists; let us live a path of consciousness. We must remain present in our respect for our neighbors, value them, and honor them.”
We are delighted to share incredible stories such as that of José Antonio Leal, a figure who is currently contributing his knowledge and talents to the country of PuraVida, a country defined by pure positive energy.
We remind you that Alianza Soberana is the first church of consciousness in Costa Rica, where very important spiritual activities have been taking place.
